Alessandra Ambrosio's L.A. Home Was Inspired by Her Native Brazil

Updated 05/18/19

One could successfully argue that Alessandra Ambrosio is the iconic Victoria's Secret angel. She walked the runway and modeled on behalf of the brand from 2000 to 2017, securing her spot on the world's highest-earning models list in the process.

If you assumed Ambrosio's personal style was an extension of the Victoria's Secret aesthetic, a peek inside her Santa Barbara home will prove surprising. The Brazilian supermodel recently invited into her Southern California home—a vibrant, 1920s-era respite that she curated with the help of famed interior designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard.

“I’d describe her style as Brazilian boho meets California rock ’n’ roll,” Bullard says of the classic Angeleno Spanish Colonial Revival home. “We wanted to do something that feels young and fresh, not just for the children but for Alessandra as well. She has an incredibly vivacious spirit.”

Santa Monica was a natural fit for Alessandra, who “had to be near the beach, someplace where you can feel and small the ocean breeze,” she told the magazine. “I come from a small town in Brazil, and Santa Monica has a similar vibe.”

This sentiment dictated her home’s design process, inviting turquoise accents, jacaranda trees, and Jorge Zalszupin furniture into the space. Step inside Alessandra Ambrosio's stunning Brazilian home-away-from-home below.
