There was a time when one could only find quality vintage furniture and décor by hunting estate sales, brick-and-mortar shops, and antique fairs. But then came eBay. And then 1stdibs. And then Etsy. Now, thanks to some clever technology, the surprising new place to shop vintage is Instagram. New startup has made it crazy easy to buy and sell basically anything you'd like on Insta. After registering a credit card and shipping address with Penny, buyers can simply comment #sold on any Instagram post with a product for sale via Penny, and it's theirs! Sellers can launch a sale in literally seconds, by posting an Instagram with a price and #paywithpenny.
The technology is just beginning to take off, but one of our favorite retailers, , has begun to use Penny to sell vintage décor in a totally clever and unique way... and we suspect it's the wave of the future. Once a month, the brand is hitting flea markets or other celebrated décor haunts around the country with bona fide design lovers curating the finds they sell. Last month, Victoria Smith of joined Chairish at the Alameda Point Antiques Fair in NorCal, , hand-blown glass coffee carafes, copper colanders, bamboo stools, and more. This Sunday, Jan. 11, the LA-based, vintage-loving, brother and sister team of (of accessories site ) and will join Chairish's founder Anna Brockway to scour the Rose Bowl Flea Market for cool antiques between 9 and 11 a.m. PT. "Think of it as Sports Sunday for vintage-loving fanatics," Brockway tells us. Now that's our kind of football. To join in on the shopping, just —and rise early!
