While we know better than to question the creative bounds of , the iconic performer was not particularly well known as an art collector during his time on Earth and Mars. Which is why his impressive art collection—including works from highly coveted artists like Jean-Michel Basquiat and Damien Hirst—may come as a surprise to some. Although the enigmatic Ziggy Stardust isn't here to share his favorites pieces himself, Sotheby's in London will see to it that this small slice of Bowie's brilliance does not go unshared. 

From November 1 through November 10, the auction house will begin selling some 400 or so works in the "Bowie/Collector" sale and exhibition. , around half of the pieces are modern and contemporary British art, but he also owned pieces from movements and disciplines, "such as Surrealism, contemporary African art, outsider art and pieces from the Memphis group." Fortunately, Sotheby's will  in London, Los Angeles, New York, and Hong Kong ahead of the November auction.
