Jennifer Lopez appears to have found the fountain of youth. Lopez attributes her morning workouts not only to her happiness (and amazing body) but also to her ability to be there for her loved ones. "I really believe that when you take care of yourself and work to stay healthy, you’re better able to take care of those you love," she explains.
While Lopez has been a role model to so many people throughout her career in the public eye, she admits she wasn't always so confident about being herself. "I was such a tomboy," she tells InStyle. "I thought I wasn't feminine enough and that my nails were too short and stubby. I was too tough for a girl, or so I thought." Now the actress, singer, and producer sees her toughness as one of her biggest strengths. "It's who I am," Lopez says.
Along with proudly being a tough girl from the Bronx, she is also a woman with curves that's she's not ashamed of, despite working in an industry that has been critical of her body type. "They’d say, 'You should lose a few pounds,' or 'You should do this or do that,'" she explains. "My mom and my grandmother were the ones who drilled into me, 'This is how we are, and this is what’s beautiful.'" According to Lopez, in her family, being curvy was something that was celebrated. "Later on, when I brought that in front of the world, I wasn’t really trying to send a message. I was just being myself," she says.
Lopez has never been anything other than herself, and it's clearly working for her. Take a page from her book and find the things that make you happy in life and about yourself and be proud of them.
