Congratulations are in order! Kensington Palace has released a statement confirming that the British royal family has welcomed its newest member, a baby boy. "Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 1101 hrs," the palace announced on Twitter. "The baby weighs 8lbs 7oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well."

In line with tradition, the royal baby announcement was also made via the local town crier, Tony Appleton. According to , Appleton appeared on the steps of St. Mary's Hospital in Paddington, London, in a tricorn hat, carrying a large bell. "Oyez, oyez, oyez, we’ve got a royal baby, a prince!" he bellowed to the crowd.

Middleton gave birth in a familiar location: the Lindo Wing is where she had Princess Charlotte and Prince George. The outlines that privacy is of the utmost importance, which is no doubt valued by the Duchess of Cambridge. "Discretion is key to our service, and we will ensure that you have the space, security and privacy you need to enjoy these precious early moments as a family," reads a statement on the website.
