1. Think of one thing you're grateful for.
It can be tricky to focus on the positive, especially at the start of the day. But by making an effort to think of just one thing you're thankful for—it can be anything from your family to the comfy socks you have on, says Jen—you'll notice a mindset shift.
2. Try this super-quick breathing trick.
If mornings are hectic or she's already feeling the weight of the day in her chest, Jen practices this really focused (and quick) breathing technique: Take a deep breath through your nose for a count of 10 seconds, then exhale deeply from your mouth for 10 seconds. If you feel you need to, repeat a couple of times.
3. Set one goal for the day.
It's tempting to plow frantically through your to-do list, but trying to do too much in one day will lead to overwhelm and make you feel like you've failed if you don't complete everything. Instead, Jen sets one main goal a day. If she achieves this one thing, then she's mastered the day and immediately feels less anxious. The bonus: If you finish that goal and accomplish something else, you'll feel like you're winning at life, Jen says.
