For the athletes in competition, the Olympics are a serious matter, the culmination of a lifetime of work whittled down to one brief moment in time. But for the rest of us, the summer games are a three-week excuse to celebrate, especially since the latest installment is taking place in Rio de Janeiro, one of the party capitals of the world.
Those lucky enough to make the trip to Brazil will no doubt be indulging in more than a few caipirinhas, Brazil’s vibrant answer to the margarita. Made with the ubiquitous indigenous spirit cachaça, the country’s national cocktail is as robust as it is refreshing.
Though Brazil’s signature drink is a must-try, the Olympics are a global affair, which means it’s your duty as a citizen of the world to sample cocktails from all corners of the earth.
